By Joshua Blake
Slow as molasses, stuck in the mud
Fall face first, make a big thud.
Earth’s slippin’ through my fingers.
I can’t get a grip as I stumble and as I slip,
Kissin’ the ground with my chapped lips.
Try again with all my might.
I ain’t givin’ in, I’ll go all night.
Earth’s slidin’ beneath my feet.
I can’t stand as I stagger and as I leap.
Fallin’ down while I start to weep.
Give it one last shot before I rot.
Try and roll over with all I’ve got.
Earth’s spreadin’ around my arms
I’ll crawl this time, it’s my lucky charm.
Screamin’ out loud as a firearm.
